Double Dose Muay Thai expresses alot of culture and tradition from Thailand. The uniform worn by each student is a tradition from Thailand, when military soldiers in first created Muay Thai Kickboxing. Another tradition that is kept at double dose is every student is required to wear an arm band that represents the students experience level. Originally soldiers who served the Thailand military would leave their wives for months and possibly even years at times. The wives would rip a piece of their dress and wrap something of sentimental value and tie it on their husbands arm so that they would have a memory of their families to guide them home. Showing respect and being thankful were two things that were brought up from the very beginning. Everyone that does Muay Thai & Brazilian Jiu Jitzu at Double Dose is very respectful and thankful. They teach you the importance of value and expect you to not only show it at the gym but everywhere you go. From day one that you enter the gym as a student the coaches and instructors show you how to show respect before stepping foot onto the mat. They also teach every student that before you hit the bag and after every round of hitting the bag you need to finish off by giving respect. Just like you show respect to the bag you do the same when you partner up with a classmate. If you forget to show respect, instructors will remind you and warn you if you forget to do it again you will need to do push ups. They do not make you do push ups because they want to be mean, they do it because they want to teach discipline and respect. Instructors and coaches at Double Dose expect you to know only be respectful and thankful at the gym but everywhere you go.
