Some people start training muay thai to learn self defense and confidence. Others because they want a sport that will help them stay in shape. Muay Thai is a sport from Thailand that uses punches, elbows, knees and kicks. It is similar to boxing except boxing only allows punches. The people on the fight team at Double Dose train Muay Thai because they like to compete and fight. Some want to make it there career. Whatever the purpose may be, they are there to train hard and stay motivated to fight and set a good example to students that would one day want to do the same. Everyone on the fight team takes a lot of time in there day to make sure they attend class everyday and learn new techniques, attend fighter training and attend sparring classes. Most fighters even help coach students and teach classes on their spare time. Being on the fight team takes up a lot of time from these committed fighters but they are willing to help and gain future fighters on their team.
To get onto the fight team at Double Dose Muay Thai there are certain obstacles and levels of experience that you need to have, not just anyone can be on the team there are requirements. A try-out is mandatory for each person that wants to be on the fght team, if you do not complete the try-out you can not even consider being on the fight team at Double Dose. You need to at least be at an orange armband rank. Reason being is because you have to have experience in Muay Thai and have confidence to not give up. You have to be able to run 3 miles in a certain amount of time and they have several more requirements that need to be met. After the try out is complete, together as team they vote whether they think you capable of being on the team. If they vote you in all your hard work will have paid off, if you did not make it on the team they tell you what it is that you need to work on to be able try out again.
